News and views of SESAR Deployment Manager #2/2026

ATM modernisation through SESAR is not just a project - even though it is often perceived that way it is a continuous process. Real, measurable progress depends on years of coordination, trust-building, and incremental upgrades. It only delivers results if we stay on course and work together as one team across all involved stakeholders.

Efficiency gains, capacity improvements, and emissions reductions can only be achieved through sustained commitment and investment, both from operational stakeholders and through CEF funding. Our latest fact sheet in this newsletter highlights what SESAR deployment can deliver by 2040: With an actual 343 out of 359 deployment projects completed, it is expected to generate impressive savings of more than 428 million minutes of average flight time, 6.7 million tons of fuel and more than 21 million tons of CO2 .

Behind these achievements is a dedicated team supporting the extensive work carried out by operational stakeholders deploying CP1. You can get to know part of this team through our current social media campaign, “I am SDM”, which shines a spotlight on the people involved in the coordination efforts required for synchronised SESAR deployment across Europe.
