On November 20th SESAR Deployment Manager hosted its Annual Meeting and Kick-Off of the CEF2 2024 Transport Call, bringing together the involved Implementing Partners in Brussels .

In the spirit of co-creation and exchange upon which SESAR Deployment Manager is built, staff members welcomed representatives of their members and implementing partners to reflect on the CP1 (Common Project One) deployment achievements accomplished together, and step into the next actions to continue modernising ATM (Air Traffic Management).

Insights from SDM experts on the progress of Implementation Projects, performance benefits, reporting activities, and financial management were complemented by contributions from different stakeholders.

Representing CINEA (European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency), SESAR Project Management Coordinator Valeria Villanova and Project Adviser Elina Tiihonen shared a summary of the deliverables received under the EU support funding framework as well as valuable lessons learnt during the last year.

Testimonials showcase SESAR deployment in operations

On the stakeholders’ side, Lukáš Řezníček, Head of Strategic ATM Development Office at Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic, showcased successful examples of his organisation’s implementation efforts coordinated by SESAR Deployment Manager.

Stefania Durante, Head of SESAR Projects and Punctuality at SEA Milan Airports, stressed how ambitious multi-stakeholder projects BEACON and EXOPAN are improving operational efficiency and sustainability of Air Traffic Management beyond CP1 compliance.

On SESAR Deployment Manager level, managers and experts presented an extensive review of this year’s positive outcomes. The 2025 monitoring exercise shows an advanced status of SDM-coordinated Implementation Projects with 323 out of 359 projects closed by November 2025. The overall deployment of CP1 translate into multiple, demonstrated benefits in improved airspace capacity, as per the latest SESAR Deployment Manager report 2014-2024: A decade of SESAR coordinated deployment.

SGA (Specific Grant Agreement) experts provided in-depth understanding of reporting and monitoring activities under the CEF2 Call, how the ongoing and future financial management actions allow ANSPs (Air Navigation Service Providers), airports, and

airlines accelerate their ATM modernisation activities, and conveyed best practices to ensure sound information flows between stakeholders and SESAR Deployment Manager.

Praises for best-in-class examples of how Implementing Partners are communicating on their CP1 achievements brought the first half of the event to a close.

Accelerating Initial Trajectory Information Sharing

The conclusion of the Annual Meeting led to the CEF2 2024 Transport Call Kick-Off, which, following a similar structure, marked the launch of the projects enabling the acceleration of ATM Functionality 6 — Initial Trajectory Information Sharing implementation.

Focused on practical guidance from CINEA and SESAR Deployment Manager experts for our Implementing Partners on this new phase of ATM modernisation, the session also featured automatic surveillance use cases presented by Enis Aksu, Senior Project Manager for ATM Technologies at Lufthansa Group.

SESAR Deployment Manager took the chance to welcome new Implementing Partners Aegean Airlines, European Air Transport Leipzig GmbH, and SAS - Scandinavian Airlines.

The event proofed to be a very fruitful exchange with SESAR Deployment Manager committed stakeholders, once again ensuring their buy-in and their readiness for what’s ahead in the upcoming years of making SESAR deployment an operational reality.
