Description

This Implementation Project, successfully deployed by Aéroports de Paris, aimed at enhancing the local Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) in operations at Paris - Charles De Gaulle (CDG) international airport. The A-CDM is an airport operational procedure aimed at improving the management and performance of departing and arriving flights through an improved and stronger exchange of information between the stakeholders (e.g. airport operators, Air Traffic Control, Ground handlers, Airlines, Network Manager). The procedure is mainly focused on aircraft pre-departure and turn-round processes.

This specific IP was focused on the optimization and enhancements of the following A-CDM features:

  • Enhancement of the Pre-departure sequencer (PDS) to make the Target Start Approval Time (TSAT), i.e. the time at which ATC provides the clearance to an aircraft to move from its departure stand, more stable especially in adverse conditions (e.g. thunderstorms, snow, etc.);

  • Improvement of the automatic messages exchanged by the local airport with the Network Manager Operations Centre (NMOC) to provide the Network Manager with the most updated and reliable information concerning the airport movements with the objective to optimise the air traffic management at network level;

  • Improvement of de-icing tools supporting the A-CDM procedure optimising the holding points as well as the de-icing pads management, better estimating the impacts on the pre-departure sequence and Target Take-off Times (TTOT) of the departing flights.

The implementation of this project, in conjunction with complementary A-CDM projects at CDG airport (specifically IP #025AF2 – TSAT to the gate and #027AF2 – Surface Management (SMAN) airport) brought tangible benefits, such as:

  • 391.000 minutes of ATC delay reduction and 746.000 minutes of Taxi-out time reduction, equating to 38M€ in savings up to 2030;

  • Additional qualitative benefits

    • Better resource management of stands

    • Better optimisation of the turnaround process

    • Improved Arrival and Departure punctuality
